Waypoint City has hired us to build from scratch a niche community site for users of handheld and car-mounted GPS units. This site will include plenty of information, as well as social networking features (friends, groups, forums, etc). The owner and founder of Waypoint City is already well-known and respected in the community of GPS users, and we’re glad he’s brought us on board to help launch this exciting new online community. Target launch date for site beta is June 1.

We are pleased to announce that WDA will be working with Boulder Soupworks to redesign their website. BSW soups are locally made, organic pre-packaged soups that you can now find at Whole Foods. We are excited to be able to put our stamp on this up and coming brand.

Adding to the sizzle of this project is that we are partnering with a Boulder-based graphic designer Kelly Wengert (www.dashofhotsauce.com). Kelly has worked on several high-end design and branding projects, and we look forward to partnering with her on this project.

Keep your eyes open for the completed Boulder Soupworks website in our portfolio in mid-April. And swing on over to Whole Foods stores in Boulder or Superior to check out the soup while you’re at it! I tried the roasted tomato basil last night, and it was excellent.

In addition to design work and training here at WDA, I often teach web design courses at CompuSkills, a subsidiary of Colorado Free University. The Free University concept is focused on continuing adult education and enrichment, and is a very community-driven organization. So after a year and a half of teaching for them, we’re excited to be taking on a redesign and reimplementation of the official CompuSkills website.

We’ll be using WordPress as a CMS (again!), allowing the internal staff to manage content. Mostly, it’s just a site that needs some refreshing to bring it up to date with the times and with their branding. This is a fun project to take on, and you should see it hitting the portfolio by the beginning of March.

Premier Image Agency is a full-service, nationwide modeling and promotions agency headquartered in Denver, Colorado. Premier Image wanted a complete overhaul – so we gave it to them! We started with the logo design, then moved on to a new site design concept. Included in the site is a database management system built in Django (a web framework based on Python) that allows all of their models to create an account and upload their information, including a photo uploader. Also included is a front booking selection system for their clients – simply click the “Book Me” button to begin the process of booking a model for your tradeshow, fashion show, or advertising campaign! The final piece is a blog that allows Premier Image to showcase their models and events. The site is already gaining traction and attention, with hundreds of models signed up with viewable profiles.

This site combined HTML/CSS with Django and Django’s templating system, a MySQL database, as well as some flash objects and javascript behaviours.

Premier Image Agency is a national modeling and promotions agency based here in Denver. The new website is not just a website, but a manager and booking engine for the database for all the models, stylists, and photographers they represent. We were able to redesign the entire brand for PIA – starting with the logo, and then both the front and back ends of the website. The site is built on Django 1.0, and includes a model registration/submission system, online contract signing, photo uploads, and a booking/direct messaging system.
