The Web Academy of Denver was formed in 2008 by Jason Ackerman. As a freelance web designer, Jason found that many of his clients were insistent upon maintaining sites themselves. Software like Dreamweaver promised to make web designers out of anyone, but few were learning the craft of web design. Design schools focus on graphic designers, but no one focuses on the true nature of the web designer: the modern day Rennaissance person.
Since starting with a focus on training, WDA has evolved to encompass all of Jason’s freelance work as well, to become a full-service web design and development house, incorporating the work of some of Denver’s most talented programmers and graphic artists.
Students who successfully complete the programs here at WDA are walking away with the skills they need as a web designer. Whether you’re taking on an existing website, diving into a new startup, or looking to make a living as a freelance web designer, the foundational skills you learn will not only give you the raw knowledge you need, but provide a solid basis for ongoing education as well.
